What is the difference between Psychologist and A Psychiatrist? most people find it the same but reality its not..
Psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in psychiatry and is certified in treating mental disorders.[1] All psychiatrists are trained in diagnostic evaluation and in psychotherapy. As part of their evaluation of the patient, psychiatrists are one of the few mental health professionals who may prescribe psychiatric medication, conduct physical examinations, order and interpret laboratory tests and electroencephalograms, and may order brain imaging studies such ascomputed tomography or computed axial tomography (CT/CAT Scan), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography scanning.
Psychologist is an academic, occupational or professional title, used by individuals who are either:
- Social scientists conducting psychological research or teaching psychology in a college or university;
- Academic professionals who apply psychological research, theories and techniques to "real-world" problems, questions and issues in business, industry, or government.
- Clinical professionals who work with patients in a variety of therapeutic contexts (contrast with psychiatrists, who provide medical interventions and drug therapies, as opposed to analysis and counseling).

Most typically, people encounter psychologists and think of the discipline as involving the work of clinical psychologists or counseling psychologists. While counseling and psychotherapy are common activities for psychologists, these applied fields are just one branch in the larger domain of psychology. Research and teaching comprise a major role among psychologists.
Well Psychologist is more on research, teacher, interviewer while Psychiatrist is the Doctor it self..
It's nice to know what the difference between the two..Hmmm I want to be both, but for now I would want to be a Psychologist first,because studying medicine needs a lot of cash.. :)
